After spending several years in prison due to addiction issues, the man often compared to Dizzy Gillespie and Fats Navarro returned to the studio with an exceptional lineup including Phineas Newborn, Jr. (piano), Leroy Vinnegar (bass), and Shelly Manne on drums. This reissue is part of the "Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds" audiophile collection and features new analog mastering from the master tapes by Bernie Grundman, as well as the original artwork and liner notes in a carefully designed package.
