Violin concertos

Hilary Hahn returns to the essentials of the violin repertoire with Mozart and Vieuxtemps, two violinist composers. After her last two albums (Silfra and In 27 Pieces) dedicated to contemporary creation, the two-time Grammy Award-winning violinist returns to a classical-romantic repertoire in which she excels. It is hard to imagine that there was a time when Mozart was a less popular composer than the Belgian violinist Henri Vieuxtemps, about three generations his junior. Today, while the name Vieuxtemps rarely appears in concert programs, it is very familiar to violinists. Hilary Hahn has chosen Mozart's fifth concerto in A major known as the "Turkish" concerto, particularly famous for its third movement which gave it its nickname: a spirited passage with popular accents that adds to the captivating character of the entire work. She continues her program with Vieuxtemps' fourth concerto, which turns its back on the usual tripartite structure by following a four-movement plan, like a symphony. In collaboration with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and its illustrious conductor, Paavo Järvi.
