In the blink of an eye, terror begins... Lifeforce is a cult science fiction and horror film from 1985, directed by Tobe Hooper, who also gave us the 1974 horror classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Adapted from Colin Wilson's novel, The Space Vampires (1976), the film tells the story of survivors of a race of intergalactic vampires, brought to London, where they quickly infect the population. The soundtrack for this apocalyptic descent into chaos is composed by the legendary Henry Mancini. Considered one of the greatest composers in film history, he received an impressive collection of awards: four Oscars, a Golden Globe, twenty Grammy Awards, and a Lifetime Achievement Grammy (posthumously). He is notably famous for "Moon River," performed by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and of course for The Pink Panther. James Horner was initially approached to compose the music, but it was ultimately Mancini who succeeded him and created a work that is both grand and atmospheric (and at times atonal), with the London Symphony Orchestra. Sit back comfortably and let fear take over... Lifeforce is available in a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies, on purple and red marbled vinyl, and includes a 4-page booklet with an alternate cover, film photos, and a fold-out poster reproduction.
