Henry Mancini (1924-1994) is best known for his film and television scores. He won a record number of Grammy Awards, as well as a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. Mancini had a long collaboration with director Blake Edwards and won numerous Academy Awards for songs from Edwards' films. Songs with Mancini's music were staples of the easy listening genre from the 1960s to the 1980s. Mancini's contribution to jazz went well beyond bringing jazz music to the screen and composing songs that became jazz standards. For many years, he led a band of varying sizes that included many jazz stars.
