Description

Founded in 1975 and 1983, the labels JMS and CREAM RECORDS have always supported creative artists with an international profile. Focused on jazz in all its forms, they boast collaborations with major artists such as Henri Texier, Didier Lockwood, Martial Solal, UZEB, Allan Holdsworth, Gordon Beck, Louis Sclavis, and many others. Today, both labels are committed to continuing to record new projects with these artists while reissuing, on both CD and vinyl, a legendary back catalog. Like his double bass, Henri Texier is a pillar, a landmark in the world of jazz and music in general. After a dazzling start to his career in the late 1960s, alongside American bebop giants such as Bud Powell, Donald Byrd, Dexter Gordon, and Kenny Clarke, Henri Texier, with his originality, was at the forefront of world music long before the term existed. Proof of this can be found in his first two recordings made on the JMS label: Amir (1975) and Varech (1977), reissued on vinyl to meet demand from all over the world, thanks to several DJs such as Bonobo, Chinese Man, Be Svendsen, etc., who use excerpts from these two albums in their remixes. Compositions such as Amir, Le Piroguier, Les "Là-bas," L'Eléphant, Quand le Blues s'en ira, etc., and many others, are now considered standards.
