Wewantsounds presents Inner Peace, a superb selection of rare deep jazz tracks with funky accents produced by the legendary producer Bob Shad on his Mainstream Records catalog between 1971 and 1973. For the most part never reissued, the tracks on Inner Peace, filled with Fender Rhodes, showcase the unique deep jazz sound of Mainstream with musicians of the caliber of Harold Land, Roy Haynes, and Frank Foster, as well as the younger generation of talented musicians such as Buddy Terry, Dave Hubbard, and LaMont Johnson. They are accompanied by the cream of the musicians of the time, including Bernard Purdie, Buster Williams, Eddie Henderson, Mtume, Stanley Clarke, and Cecil Bridgewater. Sample enthusiasts will recognize the one from Roy Haynes' "Senyah" on De La Soul's "Pony Ride" or the short piece by Shelly Manne, "Infinity," on the hip-hop classic "Come Clean" by Jeru The Damaja. A fitting tribute to the music produced by Shad.
