A former member of Max Roach and Clifford Brown's group, tenor saxophonist Harold Land distinguished himself on the 1950s and 1960s jazz scene thanks to the inventiveness and modernity of his playing. Released in 1960 and produced by David Axelrod, 'The Fox' is a must-have in his discography, notably thanks to the presence of legendary trumpeter Dupree Bolton and its delicate balance between hard-bop and blues sensibility.
