This is already the fifth album for Hangman's Chair, an inspired return to their roots, greatly influenced by the night and the coldness of the Parisian suburbs. Following on from 2015's This is not Supposed to be Positive, Banlieue Triste doubles down with even more glacial and somber atmospheres, heavily utilizing reverb and chorus that drown the album in melancholy. With notable guests (James from Perturbator and Marc from Mongolito and Wolvennest) and a clever blend of instrumental tracks ("Tara," "Sidi Bel Abbès"), catchy songs ("Naive," "04 09 16"), and down-tempo ballads ("Negative Male Child"), Hangman's Chair asserts its strong identity with this new opus, which will undoubtedly make a significant mark on 2018!
