Guembri Superstar

Description

At the origin of Guembri Superstar is a trio of traveling musicians. Each of them evolves without borders, charting their paths between world music, jazz, improvised music, and electronic music. This led them to collaborate with artists and projects as diverse as Magnetic Ensemble, Blick Bassy, Roseaux, Oumou Sangaré, Étienne Mbappé, Salif Keita, Sylvain Rifflet, La Litanie des Cimes, Naïssam Jalal, Msaki, and Blundetto. For this album, the musicians of Guembri Superstar first came together to record sessions of experimental dancefloor improvisation. These sessions then matured on stage through contact with the trio's guests, before being refined in the studio and shaped by Clément Petit. The result is a dense and generous multi-feature album, the opposite of minimalism and sanitized short formats: Guembri Superstar unfolds voluble, rough, and lush tracks, resolutely against the current.
