Dry As A Bone

Description

Green River's EP Dry As a Bone finally available on vinyl and CD! The story of the rise of rock in Seattle in the late 80s and early 90s begins with Green River. Composed of Jeff Ament (bass), Mark Arm (guitar/vocals), Bruce Fairweather (guitar), Stone Gossard (guitar), and Alex Shumway (drums), the quintet released three 12'' and one 7'' during its brief existence. But Green River's influence on the Seattle music scene spread far and wide, thanks to the dispersion of its members into bands such as Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, and Love Battery, as well as the punk-glam-sludge rock songs they left behind. Green River, formed in 1984, spanned many different genres: blues, punk, rock... The EP Dry As A Bone was recorded in 1986. It shows the band in its powerful form, notably with fiery guitars and furious drums on This Town and Unwind. Green River's place in American music history is undeniable, but these recordings paint a more complete picture of the band and rock in the mid to late 80s, as the faster, stronger ideals of punk were changing shape.
