Formed under the impetus of Howe Gelb, godfather of alternative country, GIANT SAND came into being in 1982 in Tucson. Delivering rock heated by the Arizona sun, oscillating between country and folk, GIANT SAND is a collective around which many artists such as Joey Burns or John Convertino of Calexico revolve. 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of Valley Of Rain, one of GIANT SAND's first albums. To celebrate this event, the band will present their new album in October: Blurry Blue Mountain. Fire Records is also proud to announce the release of a series of reissues of 30 albums from the Giant Sand/Howe Gelb catalog, which will begin with the release of Valley of Rain in September and end with the release of two box sets planned for next year.
