"Building our empire on the ashes of the old": the Swedish band GHOST, Grammy winner, announces the release of "Impera," their fifth studio album. "Impera" sees GHOST literally transported hundreds of years before the era of the Black Death that ravaged Europe in the 14th century, as mentioned in "Prequelle" (nominated for "Best Rock Album" at the GRAMMY Awards in 2018). Musically the most ambitious and lyrically the most incisive of GHOST's works, through its 12 songs "Impera" sees empires rise and then fall, would-be messiahs plead their (financial and spiritual) cases, prophecies are announced as the skies fill with divine and artificial celestial bodies... The whole is set against a hypnotic and darkly colored melodic backdrop. "Impera" cannot be approached like any other album... upon listening, one undoubtedly knows they are dealing with the quintessence of GHOST... The album was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace.
