Little Song Lines

Description

After the great success of her eponymous debut album, after an international tour (New York, Berlin, London, Istanbul, Tokyo,…) and several sold-out dates at La Seine Musicale, Les Francos de La Rochelle and La Cigale, and before a highly anticipated Olympia show, the #1 jazz artist in France unveils a brand new acoustic guitar/vocal EP with folk accents... Gabi Hartmann's new EP "Little Songlines" is conceived as an interlude, a breath, between her first album and her second, currently in preparation. Composed of acoustic tracks recorded live, in this EP, Gabi sings while accompanying herself on guitar, with no click track and very few arrangements. In the tradition of folk singer-songwriters, in an intimate atmosphere, the recording captures the essence of the songs, their stories, in their purest and rawest forms. The title, Little Songlines, is inspired by the songlines of Australian Aborigines, a real system, a vast labyrinth of invisible paths like a desert map, where the songs act as guardians of the spiritual world of ancestors. What if songs were, for artists, powerful vectors of memories, allowing them to connect with strong emotions to find answers to their deepest questions? From this secret and melancholic place, Gabi Hartmann shares a more intimate side, presenting not only new versions of tracks from her previous album, but also drawing inspiration from a cover by Mexican-American singer-songwriter Lhasa de Sela (who has a great influence on Gabi's work and is also a prominent female role model). It also features a new song, 'Nowhere To Hide', the French song 'L’amour incompris' and a protest song 'Azza Fi Awak', enhanced by flutist Ghandi Adam. Not to mention the bonus track, the magnificent duet between Gabi and Moh Kouyaté 'Tanoun'... Again and again, Gabi continues to celebrate the blending of cultures.
