This sixth album took shape shortly after the birth of her daughter and the sudden death of her father, a back-to-back convergence of profoundly unsettling events that left their mark on the singer. Feist slowly gravitated towards a batch of songs rooted in a raw, powerful realism touched by an otherworldly beauty. Largely written and honed during an experimental show of the same name in 2021 and 2022, the songs were deeply influenced by the mutuality of this unconventional experience.
