e.s.t. live in Gothenburg: an anthology concert (including a previously unreleased track never before available on CD)
An eternal concert: "e.s.t. live in Göteborg" offers listeners the unreleased recording of a concert that Esbjörn Svensson (1994-2008) referred to during his lifetime as one of the best his trio had ever played. In this 2001 recording, e.s.t. performed tracks from the albums "From Gagarin's Point of View" and "Good Morning Susie Soho". There's even a track, "Bowling", which has never been released on CD before. "e.s.t. live in Göteborg" documents the enduring magic of this group. Originality, strength, and joy unite here in an ideal way. On June 14, 2008, the music world learned the terrible news of the pianist's death following a diving accident. The trio's career then abruptly ended, at the peak of its ascent and global conquest. It's worth remembering that e.s.t. was the only European band to have graced the cover of the American Jazz Bible Downbeat (1934!). Many bands have been greatly influenced by the Swedish trio: Gogo Penguin, Mammal Hands, Portico Quartet, etc...
