Eric Donaldson was born in Jamaica in 1947. In 1971, he won the Jamaican Festival Song Competition with his hit Cherry Oh Baby. His reggae career was launched, and he went on to have a string of successes, from "Miserable Woman" to "Freedom Street." His signature song, "CherryOh Baby," was covered by UB40 and the Rolling Stones.
