Bereshit Uriel Chants du Jardin de Solomon

Description

Alpha Classics continues its collaboration with the Ensemble Intercontemporain and presents a program dedicated to the compositions of its conductor and artistic director, Matthias Pintscher: Bereshit, meaning "in the beginning" in Hebrew, is a piece about divine creation. The architecture of the work refers to the idea of the growth of elements from nothingness to their completed form: colors and harmonies are always redefined by what precedes and follows them. From absolute minimalism to a sonic explosion of percussion, winds, brass, and strings, this piece is a true sensory experience. Songs from Solomon's garden, on the other hand, explores - still within a highly spiritual dimension - passionate love through the Shir ha-Shirim (Song of Songs). The poetic density of this text is highlighted here, with the only repeated phrase of the work taking on an almost incantatory meaning: "ki cholat ahava ani" ("for I am lovesick").
