Formed in the South Bay area of Los Angeles in 1978, DESCENDENTS first established themselves as a power trio featuring bassist Tony Lombardo, drummer Bill Stevenson, and guitarist Frank Navetta (d. 2008). The band re-enlisted vocalist Milo Aukerman in 1980 and began to solidify their presence as a major player in the Southern California punk movement. Over the years, the band has maintained a potent synergy and shared vision that has cemented their legendary punk rock status. In 2002, the four original members - Frank Navetta, Tony Lombardo, Bill Stevenson, and Milo Aukerman - returned to the studio to record their earliest material. The songs were written by the band from 1977-1980, prior to the recording of the Fat EP (1981) and Milo Goes to College LP (1982). In other words, this is the earliest DESCENDENTS material, representing a "lost" pre-MGTC album. Most of these songs have never been heard, until now. Every element of the genre-defining DESCENDENTS sound is here: Stevenson’s hyper-caffeinated surf beats, Lombardo’s fearless bass, Navetta’s crushing attack, Aukerman’s impassioned and infinitely relatable vocals - and all those great melodies and harmonies.
