Description

Deap Vally burst onto the Los Angeles scene in 2011 with a primal mix of hard rock and greasy blues riffs – The White Stripes colliding with The Black Keys. They played their first show at the Silverlake Lounge and their riotous stage presence landed them support slots with bands like Muse, Peaches, Wolfmother, The Vaccines and Red Hot Chili Peppers. A debut EP in 2013 produced by Lars Stalfors (The Mars Volta, Cold War Kids) would follow, then their debut album Sistrionix and finally 2016's Femejism (produced by Nick Zinner -Yeah Yeah Yeahs) which toned down the assault of their early days, revealing vocal influences such as Karen O, Courtney Barnett and Chrissie Hynde. Being in a band is like being in a marriage: sometimes it's magical, sometimes it's an unbearable challenge. To reinvigorate this marriage, Deap Vally turned their third album into a genre-bending experiment: new collaborators such as KT Tunstall, Peaches, Jennie Vee and jennylee, as well as a range of producers including Allen Salmon, Josiah Mazzaschi and Harvey Mason Jr.
