These thrilling performances were captured in front of a live audience at the Smoke Jazz Club and feature his quintet of Terell Stafford, Jeb Patton, David Wong, and Billy Drummond. They are the first in a series of live recordings slated for release to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Smoke Sessions Records and the 25th Anniversary of the Smoke Jazz Club. McPherson certainly reveals why he has been held in such high esteem for 60 years. This recording is a showcase of McPherson's talents as both a composer and soloist and ties into his deep and extensive exploration of the entire spectrum of jazz.
