Un Lorrain en Acadie. 30 years he dreamed of it, this time it's done: Lafayette, here he is! Because it is in Louisiana, in the heart of the bayou, that CharlÉlie Couture went to record his 20th studio album. A raw and festive album that perfectly summarizes the essence of the music he has been creating for nearly 4 decades: an intense and deep blues, warm and humid, between mist and moonlight. It is at the famous Dockside Studio, which has hosted illustrious visitors like Taj Mahal or B.B. King, Allen Toussaint or Dr John, that CharlÉlie has made his home, accompanied by local virtuosos. Accordion, mandolin, fiddle, washboard (the "frottoir"), harmonica ("the mouth music"), sax, trumpet, and tuba punctuate these 13 songs, in French and in English. Zachary Richard, a native of the area, even joins his voice with CharlÉlie's on two tracks. The result, co-produced by the artist and his guitarist Karim Attoumane, lives up to the challenge. We discover feverish turnarounds (Déconner, Debout dans la boue), love ballads (Annie, Baby Blue), epic road movies (30 years outside, with Dylan-like accents, Le danger sur la piste, thriller sioux) and moving ballads (Demain les anges and especially Chanson en sous-sol, which may remind some of a famous plane without wings...).
