35 years after their debut, Cannibal Corpse are back! Since 1988, Cannibal Corpse have been at the forefront of death metal, shaping and defining the genre. In 2021, they rose to the challenge once again with Violence Unimagined. And in 2023, the band's thirty-fifth anniversary year, they return with its equally monstrous successor, "Chaos Horrific," thus beginning a new chapter in their rich legacy. Written shortly after the completion of the Violence Unimagined sessions, "Chaos Horrific" contains echoes of that album. "To me, this album is kind of a continuation of Violence Unimagined," says bassist Alex Webster. Rutan has produced six Cannibal Corpse albums, starting with Kill in 2006, and this is Rutan's second album as a full-fledged member, since he officially joined the band in 2020. Recording at Rutan's Mana Studio in Florida, the band's home state, was comfortable for everyone involved, who were at the top of their game and ready to give their best. Things went more smoothly than ever, especially on guitars, thanks to Barrett and Rutan. The album artwork, by long-time collaborator Vince Locke, is also Cannibal Corpsesque, with a chaotic tangle of living and undead, evoking the lyrics of the eponymous track.
