Canadian jazz icons Kirk MacDonald, Lorne Lofsky, and Derrick Gardner form the Canadian Jazz Collective and announce their debut album "Septology - The Black Forest Session," recorded analog at the MPS (Black Forest) studio.

The CJC is led by three of Canada's most acclaimed and accomplished jazz treasures: saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, guitarist Lorne Lofsky, and trumpeter Derrick Gardner. Reinforced by clarinetist Virginia MacDonald and supported by a renowned rhythm section featuring pianist Brian Dickinson, bassist Neil Swainson, and drummer Bernd Reiter, this innovative septet takes a collaborative approach to original Canadian jazz, merging the unique artistic visions of the leaders into a single, creative, and cohesive voice.
Today, Canada continues to be a reliable source for some of the world's best jazz artists, with a robust and vibrant music scene. The Canadian Jazz Collective strives to uphold this tradition and showcase their world-class virtuosity and talent by performing original works. "The idea is to bring together musicians with similar aesthetics, who approach music with openness and respect for each other's individuality, and to feature them," explains MacDonald, adding that "it's the idea that the whole should be greater than the sum of its parts."
