March 31st 2023 marked a lucky number of trips around the sun for metalcore stalwarts Bury Tomorrow, with the release of their seventh studio album ‘The Seventh Sun’. Widely regarded as the band’s strongest work to date, and met with equal adoration from fans, it firmly planted itself as a flag in the sand claiming the band’s future, rather than a much maligned full stop. Navigating uncertain territory with a new rejuvenation, new lands are opening up to them, proving it isn’t luck, but sheer grit and determination. Larger venues, their most critically acclaimed and revered album to date, further afield stages, a burgeoning audience and a sold-out main support show at London’s 11,000 capacity Alexandra Palace with longtime peers While She Sleeps, have been the rewards of their relentless tenacity.
Now, fresh off the back of a US tour with stablemates Electric Callboy to tens of thousands of people, Bury Tomorrow are set to change the game entirely. With a new production team, Carl Brown (Sleep Token, BMTH, Malevolence) taking the production reins, the band unveil a brand new surprise single, Villain Arc. An undeniably heavy track, deploying Bury Tomorrow’s reliable darkness, bone-crushing riffs and unparalleled breakdowns. All whilst showcasing a new sonic palette that marries outright heaviness with energising electronic swells, synth stabs, effortless harmonics and re-charged approaches from both vocalists. As a first taste of what’s to come, Villain Arc shows the ambition of a band already sat at the top of the UK metal scene, with the appetite, and more specifically the capability and willingness, to go further.
