The soundtrack includes all live versions of the tracks from Springsteen's most recent studio album of the same name, as well as a cover of "Rhinestone Cowboy" by Glen Campbell.
The film Western Stars was co-directed by Bruce Springsteen and his longtime collaborator Thom Zimny. Springsteen and Ron Aniello produced the soundtrack, mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob Ludwig, the same legendary duo behind 'Springsteen on Broadway'. The film 'Western Stars' is a cinematic reimagining of Springsteen's first studio album in five years! He performs the album with a band and a full orchestra at Stone Hill Farm in Colts Neck, NJ. The film premiered at the 209 Toronto International Film Festival and is written and performed by Bruce Springsteen, with special guest Patti Scialfa.
Thom Zimny, Jon Landau, Barbara Carr, and George Travis produced the film, alongside Bruce Springsteen as executive producer.
The album 'Western Stars' became a worldwide success by all measures, reaching number one in sales on every continent and hailed by critics as one of the best albums of his career.
