« NOMAD » is the latest album by the Tuareg guitarist, songwriter, and performer Omara Moctar known as « BOMBINO ». Invited by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, the artist, originally from Niger, traveled to Nashville with his band to record the album at Easy Eye Sound studio. Little known outside of the Saharan Africa before 2009, Bombino's career was then limited to a few cassettes available in the region as well as participation in local bands. It is only in recent years that foreign audiences have finally been won over. After several sold-out shows in Europe and the United States, Bombino has been praised by critics, notably by Pitchfork and by Milo Miles of the Fresh Air program on NPR, who does not hesitate to describe him as: “a young artist with enough charisma and imagination to become the first Tuareg star.” Dan Auerbach, awarded Producer of the Year at the last GRAMMY AWARDS ceremony, became a fan after one of his friends who saw him in concert told him about it, convinced that Dan would appreciate his “desert blues,” unique in its kind.
