Bombino, the hero of Tuareg folklore, presents his new album!
Omara "Bombino" Moctar, guitarist and hero of Tuareg folklore, knows nomadic life well. Constantly being on the road for his music while perpetually moving through the Sahelian region of Africa is the norm. So, when the pandemic brought the world to a halt, Bombino found himself in an unfamiliar space: being in one place. To bring the songs to life, Bombino worked closely with Welsh producer and mixer David Wrench (David Byrne, Frank Ocean, Caribou, Goldfrapp, Erasure, The xx, Sampha), with his bandmates in a studio in Casablanca for ten days to record the album. The ten songs that make up 'Sahel' address themes as varied as the fate of the Tuareg people, the pain of lost love, or the follies of youth.
