OMARA "BOMBINO" MOCTAR is one of the most promising young talents from the vibrant Tuareg scene. His hypnotic improvisations echo the guitar riffs of his African compatriots TINARIWEN and ALI FARKA TOURE, not to mention the rock and blues of JIMI HENDRIX, JOHN LEE HOOKER, and JIMMY PAGE. Having gained great renown across the Sahara thanks to his stunning guitar playing, BOMBINO travels to California with the band TIDAWT to record with KEITH RICHARDS and CHARLIE WATTS of the ROLLING STONES. BOMBINO even served as a guide to ANGELINA JOLIE in the region during her visit a few years ago. His story, along with his committed songs, has led to a new documentary, Agadez, la musique et la rébellion, which is currently touring festivals in the United States and Europe. The release of Agadez on the Cumbancha label will give an international dimension to BOMBINO's career, that of one of the best young African guitarists.
