Travelin' Thru, 1967 - 1969: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 15
Description
This 15th volume of Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series focuses on the years 1967 to 1969, those of the albums John Wesley Harding, Nashville Skyline and Self Portrait. Travellin'Thru is available as a triple CD and triple vinyl.
Disc 1 highlights alternate versions of compositions from the album John Wesley Harding, as well as an unreleased song "Western Road" from the Nashville Skyline sessions.
Discs 2 and 3 are centered on Dylan's collaborations with Johnny Cash from the famous Studio A Columbia sessions. On February 17 and 18, 1969, with a band including Carl Perkins, the two men recorded the 20 unreleased duets featured here, in addition, of course, to the song Girl From The North Country which has appeared on Nashville Skyline since its release.
The third disc concludes with tracks recorded on May 17, 1970 with banjo legend Earl Scruggs for the PBS TV show 'Earl Scruggs: His family and friends'.
In total, there are 47 unreleased recordings that document this pivotal period where, after his 1966 motorcycle accident, Bob Dylan once again caught everyone off guard and, after his rock revolution, more or less invented Americana, that hybrid genre blending folk, country music and rock.
