"Nightmares Made Flesh", Bloodbath's second studio album, was released in 2004. Considered an evolution, or even a departure, from their debut, the band developed their melodic and technical elements and spawned an album more complex in scope, tempo, and rhythmic approach, without being a pure homage to the old-school scene. Bloodbath also utilized more outside metal influences compared to previous releases, while still firmly marking their own identity.
