End Comes Too Soon - Deluxe

Description

Big'n is a noise rock band founded in Chicago in 1990, consisting of vocalist William Akins, guitarist Todd Johnson, bassist Fred Popolo, and drummer Brian Wnukowski. After two exceptional albums (released in 1994 and 1996, respectively) and a series of singles (including a split with Shellac), the band suspended its activities for several years. In 2018, Big'n recorded and released a new EP titled *Knife of Sin*. In 2022, they released *DTS 25*, an augmented re-release of their second album, *Discipline Through Sound*. Both releases were recorded by the late Steve Albini and released by the New York label Computer Students(TM). Today, Big'n is back with *End Comes Too Soon*, their first album in 28 years. The band's signature sound remains unchanged: Brian's powerful and precise drumming structures the tracks, Fred's metallic bass sound articulates the musical framework, Todd's guitar, which has more harmonic content than many of his noise rock peers, guides the whole, and William Akins' strident voice, the most human and recognizable element of the band, delivers obsessive neurotic monologues. On May 7, 2024, Steve Albini tragically died of a heart attack. The album inevitably becomes an ode to the man, his studio, and his legacy. Like its predecessors, the album is structured by interludes, here titled "Transmissions" and designated under the code "XMSN."
