"If there was a preconceived idea before this album, it was rather vague: to focus more on organic and live sound and to record more guitars as well as other live instrumentation. That said, I'm not a purist, so I don't stop myself from making stylistic diversions, and that means working with the unexpected. Although the majority of my tracks are started and finished in my studio, I sometimes take things out of their usual environment. The recording of 'A tout à l'heure' started in my garden on a beautiful sunny day: a 12-string guitar, an MPC sampler, a microphone, and a cassette recorder. I drummed on garden objects, like a plastic watering can and garden shears, for the percussion parts. For the sound of this album, I sought to achieve a panoramic and cinematic sound while trying to merge the blur of my saturated cassette work with a bigger, livelier overall sound. This album certainly seems more personal to me because I isolated myself during its creation, which is easy to do when you know where I live, hidden in my quiet West Midlands suburb."
