Augustin Dumay returns to Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor after a break of more than 30 years since his first and only recording of this work for EMI. In this new version, he conducts the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in a refreshing new take on this ever-popular masterpiece. The rest of the program includes the last violin sonata in F that the composer worked on at the same time as the violin concerto but did not publish. A selection of Songs without Words arranged for violin and piano by David Walter completes this delightful program. The pianist is Jonathan Fournel, who recently won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition. He has been studying with Louis Lortie since 2016.
