Description
The year 2021 marks the centenary of the death of Camille Saint-Saëns, the great composer of French Romanticism. Astrig Siranossian, recently noted for her tribute album to Nadia Boulanger (ALP 635), performs the first of his two cello concertos, accompanied by the South Westphalian Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Nabil Shehata. Composed in a single movement, the work immediately surprises with the intense intensity of the solo cello's introduction.
