For their first duo album, the German cellist Anja Lechner and the Argentine guitarist Pablo Márquez decided to choose as a conceptual framework the great tradition of guitar-accompanied songs that prevailed in Vienna in the 19th century, by interpreting the music of Franz Schubert. Many of Schubert's lieder were published in versions for both piano and guitar during the composer's lifetime; in some cases, the guitar version even preceded the piano one. As a sort of echo in the form of commentary on the spirit and language of Schubert, the delightful Three Nocturnes originally written for cello and guitar by Friedrich Burgmüller (1806-1874) complete the recording.
