Sung Tongs (20th Anniversary Edition)

To mark the 20th anniversary of its release, Animal Collective will issue a double vinyl reissue of their fifth studio album *Sung Tongs* (2004). This new edition, pressed on canary yellow and ruby red vinyl, will be the album's first release on colored vinyl. The band will also release a live version of the album digitally and on colored vinyl: *Sung Tongs Live at the Theatre at Ace Hotel*, recorded during their 2018 Los Angeles concert where Avey Tare and Panda Bear performed the album in its entirety. All formats will be available on October 4th via Domino. *Sung Tongs* marked the beginning of a prolific five-year period for Animal Collective, during which the band released their breakthrough album *Feels* (2005), *Strawberry Jam* (2007), and *Merriweather Post Pavilion* (2009). Upon its release, *Rolling Stone* called it "one of the year's most creative and accomplished records," adding that "its music crackles with soulful eccentricity even as it dazzles you with improvised techniques and maneuvers." *The Guardian* described it as "joyous and instinctive," while *Pitchfork* hailed it as one of the best albums of the 2000s.
