The Baltimore group reissues its cult debut album.Animal Collective announces the reissue of its very first album Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished, which will be released via Domino.Originally released in August 2000, as a very limited CD pressing, on its own label, Animal, under the name AveyTare & Panda Bear, before the group officially named itself Animal Collective, Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished was described by Pitchfork as "a masterful piece of electro-acoustic fairy-tale music; yet, its screeching electronics and vitrified rhythms hint at something darker. Like a Snickers bar containing a razor blade." The reissue is fully remastered and includes new artwork by Abby and Dave Portner, as well as the EP, A Night at Mr. Raindrop's Holistic Supermarket, which brings together five unreleased tracks, including a cover of "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, recorded around the same time and mixed by Deakin of Animal Collective.
