On June 12, 2026, Ambrose Akinmusire and Mary Halvorson will unite on the album Slo-Mo Neon Luminate Hoverings, to be released on Nonesuch Records. This summit meeting between the trumpeter and the guitarist offers eight original compositions (four written by each musician) as well as a track born from their direct collaboration.The title "Soundcheck," already available, offers a first glimpse of this long-standing complicity. Although their musical exchanges date back to 2009, in the intimacy of a Brooklyn apartment, it was in January 2025 that the duo concretized this repertoire. After a single rehearsal followed by a concert at the New York club The Stone, the two artists immediately headed to Sear Sound studio to immortalize, the very next day, the energy and spontaneity of their dialogue.
