After a successful debut with Blue Note, the talented trumpeter and composer Ambrose Akinmusire returns this winter with a new album titled *Owl Song*, his first for Nonesuch. This new project promises to be personal, offering a deeper vision of jazz. While we await its release, the artist will unveil a first single on October 11, in collaboration with guitarist Bill Frisell and drummer Herlin Riley, who also feature on the album's other tracks. The three jazz musicians will reunite for a European tour from January to February 2024. Following the success of his debut album ("When The Heart Emerges Glistening"), Akinmusire appeared on Kendrick Lamar's iconic work "To Pimp a Butterfly" (2015). His most recent project, "On the Tender Spot of Every Calloused Moment" (2020), released two weeks after George Floyd's murder, delivered a poignant plea against income inequality and the effects of rapid gentrification on communities like those in the Bay Area where he grew up. *Owl Song* is the first of three albums Akinmusire will release on Nonesuch over the next year. Each will highlight a distinct element of his musical universe and involve different approaches to instrumentation and production.
