Two years after the highly acclaimed release of her eponymous debut album on the cult label Flying Nun Records, the New Zealand singer is back with a second album, this time on the 4AD label.
Hailing from Lyttelton, a port village in New Zealand, the young songwriter, singer, and guitarist infuses delicate folk with lyrics of gentle melancholy. And then there's that voice that so characterizes her, an incisive and heartbreaking voice.
For this new album, the singer did not hesitate to put some distance between herself and her past, leaving her native New Zealand for Bristol, where she recorded alongside the illustrious John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse, etc.).
Also noteworthy is the presence of Mike Hadreas (Perfume Genius) on two tracks from the album, "Imaging My Man" (her new single) and "Swell Does The Skull."
With "Party," there is no doubt that Aldous Harding has delivered a great album that should propel her career to new heights.
