'Poses' is Alain Chamfort's fourth studio album, released on October 1, 1979, by CBS. The release was preceded by the first single "Manureva". Recorded in Los Angeles, the album marks the second collaboration between Alain Chamfort and Serge Gainsbourg.
Jean-Michel Rivat and Jay Alanski were responsible for the lyrics of two tracks each, while Jane Birkin wrote "Let Me Try It Again", the only English-language track. 'Poses' was supported by three singles released as 45s: "Manureva", which became Alain Chamfort's best-selling single and revitalized his career, "Géant", and "Palais Royal".
