We Release JAZZ is delighted to announce the release of the limited vinyl edition of Suspended, the powerful new album by Obad, a striking testament to the ever-evolving sonic universe of this Tehran-based ensemble. This limited edition is now available on vinyl, presented in a thick sleeve with obi and illustrated with an original artwork by Iranian painter Sadra Baniasadi. Suspended is a superbly spontaneous and improvised blend of exploratory jazz fusion, progressive funk-rock and transcendent groove. Born of lived experience and shaped by the pulse of Tehran, Obad’s music is dynamic and intuitive - a constantly shifting dialogue between rhythm and texture, emotion and message. With Farid Farzian Pour on drums, Siavash Karimi on electric guitar, Kiarash Radmehr on bass and Hamidreza Keshavrpajuh (aka Pajuh) on tenor saxophone, Obad creates a sonic universe where hypnotic bass lines meet thunderous and fluid percussion; where incisive guitar motifs coil around saxophone phrases that move from a whispered invocation to explosive catharsis. Suspended captures the quartet at the height of their creativity: alive, spontaneous and deeply in tune with one another. Sadra Baniasadi’s striking cover artwork reflects the album’s energy: bold, dreamlike, charged with movement, it extends Obad’s universe into the visual realm. Suspended is a major work by one of Iran’s most captivating contemporary ensembles, marking Obad’s first release on We Release JAZZ and continuing the label’s commitment to boundary-pushing music born of deep listening, place and collective intuition.
