MINOU - 1st album “Vesperal” WINNER OF THE 2015 FRANCE INTER RADIO TALENT SHOW Minou is a band, a duo that is one and the same, complicit and complex, giving birth, or rebirth, to an uninhibited pop-electro song. So uninhibited that this album, sung entirely in French, has nothing to envy in its sound to our Anglo-Saxon friends. Minou reminds us of the new wave of the 80s, overseas indie, but also of the very best that French pop has to offer. Minou is listened to, Minou is danced to. That’s only natural, because their Rolling Stones are Daft Punk, the first shock received, first desires, emotions. New territories to explore, the magic of a world to reinvent for a generation that grew up and freed itself on the lyrics of Daho or the music of MGMT. This new language, Pierre Simon and Sabine Stenkors have been refining it since they met in high school. Several bands and nearly 10 years later, this language has become shared, a blend of their experiences and collaborations from that period. A learned blend, both organic and electronic, a curious and ambitious concoction of genres and two voices that become one. Dreamy sounds, false naivety and stubborn choruses: these are some of the elements that make up Minou’s elixir and compel us to fall immediately under their spell. Minou is a spaceship piloted, mixed and produced by Julien Delfaud (Phoenix, Superdiscount, Benjamin Biolay, Woodkid) that lands softly on a synthetic volcano spitting riffs, love and hope. Minou pulls off the crazy feat of making our melancholies joyful, making our doubts dance, mending our anger and imagining further the promise of better things. The vocals are airy and the harmony of the voices on each chorus carries you away. The lyrics are finely crafted, twisted, cosmic, sensitive, harsh and radiant. France Inter was not mistaken in selecting them for “La Relève,” a prize of which Minou were the happy winners in 2015.
