MARTYN BENNETT, a Scottish musician born in Canada, strongly influenced the modern evolution of Celtic fusion, a blend of traditional Celtic music and electro. At age 10, he played the bagpipes and won awards the following year. He then studied piano, violin and composition from the age of 15 in Edinburgh, then at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. His final album Grit, reissued on July 28, 2017, was recorded during his battle with cancer and marks a drastic change in his sound. He had become too weak to play instruments and had to turn to sequencers and synthesizers to continue creating.
