The NOUVELLE VAGUE project created a surprise and a buzz when it released, in 2004, an album of covers of punk and post-punk songs in a bossa nova style, offering an improbable journey through time and space between 1980s England and 1960s Brazil. In 10 years, NOUVELLE VAGUE has toured the world (more than 600 concerts) and sold nearly a million records across 4 albums. These covers have been featured in many films, ads, TV series... Marc Collin (producer of the Nouvelle Vague project) has now chosen to focus on the following decade and more specifically on a city, Bristol, the birthplace of a movement that revolutionized the way music is made and that continues to influence many artists today: Trip Hop. With BRISTOL, his new group, he pays tribute as much to Massive Attack as to Archive, as well as Tricky, Morcheeba and of course Portishead, not forgetting the iconic duo Neneh Cherry / Cameron Mc Vey. BRISTOL invites you to rediscover these groups and these songs, imagining that they could have been film scores or pop singles recorded in the 60s. As an outstanding arranger and producer, Marc Collin offers a fascinating reinterpretation of a genre that continues to inspire, time and again. To perform his new arrangements, Marc Collin chose young artists, born in the 90s, living in Paris. Jim Bauer, Martin Rahin, Clara Luciani, Dawn, as well as the Englishwoman Prudence Fontaine. We will also discover them all in the video for “Roads,” the first track from the album Bristol. The artwork is a nod to Banksy, the Bristol-born artist who began his first works in the 90s, influenced by everything that was happening in the city at the time. “Bristol,” the album, will be accompanied by a documentary, an exhibition and of course a show.
