For years, this association seemed impossible. The story of our new album DECEMBER is actually the result of chance. Not knowing ourselves whether there were any alternative Christmas songs in the rock and pop repertoire, we came up with the idea of asking the friends of Scala on Facebook. A few days later, we were amazed to see that the list included more than 140 possible songs. Who would have dared imagine that bands such as Pearl Jam, Linkin Park or the Smashing Pumpkins had composed and/or recorded (alternative) Christmas songs? That is when the idea was born to produce a new album with alternative Christmas songs. Seasonal songs, but also tracks that do not directly deal with Christmas or tracks that could fit into the DECEMBER project because of their special atmosphere or after arrangement. The list of selected tracks looked promising, with heavenly sounds. None of the songs is really well known, which reinforces the element of surprise. The word Christmas of course appears regularly in the lyrics, but without falling into cliché. In addition, most of the songs listen like a perfect soundtrack for December days. DECEMBER is indeed a Christmas album, or is it not?
