The first and most complete Schumann integral available on the market today! In the long line of Brilliant Classics’ “Composer Editions” collection, the name of Robert Schumann had remained absent. Although Schumann’s music is “renowned,” it cannot be considered easy listening, and his works rarely appear among the TOP classical works most loved by the general public. Yet his romantic, impulsive and energetic music, its impetuosity, the tenderness and passion it conveys, never fail to touch the hearts of listeners everywhere in the world. Schumann’s first 23 opus numbers are works for solo piano, establishing a new standard in the Romantic form, both in terms of expression and virtuosity. His later works include highly original Lied cycles, chamber music, heroic symphonies and dramatic works for vocal soloists, choir and orchestra. This box set brings together the complete symphonies and concertos, the complete chamber music, the complete piano works and organ music, a large selection of Lieder and a good number of dramatic works. The performances are of a very high standard, featuring great performers such as the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig / Konwitschny / Masur, Klára Würtz, Ronald Brautigam, Peter Frankl, Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, Arleen Auger, Peter Schreier, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and many others.
