Recognized for their ability to tell the street in bangers entirely dedicated to fun and purple bills, the guys from L2B finally arrive with their first album: Plus comme avant.
Indeed, IDS, KLN, and D2 have evolved their universe, contrasting yet coherent, allowing for both energetic flows and sung choruses, introspective tracks and flashy punchlines.
For these childhood friends, used to hanging out together since elementary school, L2B becomes more than just a simple friendship story. Studio sessions multiply, as do collaborations (BRAMSITO, SDM), while a writing seminar is organized outside the city. A first: βWe aimed to distance ourselves from our daily environment, to seek new inspirations and explore different musical universes.β In short, L2B is professionalizing their approach. They need to refine the lyrics, work on new flows, polish the choruses, and practice their scales, somewhat like those football players who go to training every day: βWe see ourselves as midfielders, versatile and creative, able to slow down the pace if needed, but also to be more raw and energetic from time to time.β
It is precisely this ease behind the mic that fascinates, this ability to stay connected to the street while touching on the universal through immediately catchy, even addictive melodies. βThanks to our first tracks, people understood that we knew how to kick. Now, we want to showcase our different musical palettes with the idea of broadening our audience, delivering lyrics in which we reveal more about ourselves. Itβs important not to be solely about attitude or the festive side: our audience needs to know who we really are.β
Deeply mature, the message of these three rappers ultimately reflects their first album, impressive in its mastery, characterized by its extreme musicality, between rapped passages and sung choruses. A first long-format whose title also speaks volumes about the multiple experiences lived by IDS, KLN, and D2 over the past six years: Plus comme avant. Indeed, the time when L2B was content to do like the big guys in the neighborhood is long gone. Today, the three rappers embrace their status, rub shoulders with sharp shooters of French rap (KOBA LaD, FRANGLISH, UZI, RSKO), and even dare the piano-voice. With, as the only constant, this famous science of the hit, natural and capable of winning over the audience.
