The multidisciplinary artist Hyd (née Hayden Dunham) presents her debut full-length album, CLEARING. The album follows a self-titled EP released in 2021, which received praise from the New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, PAPER, Nylon, Stereogum and others.
CLEARING was written largely on the volcanic island of Lanzarote in Spain, lending a visceral and expansive quality to the often prophetic lyrics that deal with rebirth through fire and ash. CLEARING was written and recorded with collaborators such as SOPHIE, A. G. Cook, Caroline Polachek, EASYFUN and Ö. On the LP, Hyd explores levels of vulnerability intact by dismantling inner structures and allowing the framework to fracture in order to spur a cyclical, sonic, visual and sensory evolution. Like materials that mutate toward new states of being, Hyd does the same. Hyd's music breaks free from broken systems and extends beyond what is physically present or possible, and in doing so, invites the listener to accompany her on a journey of inner investigation and questioning. For this, Hyd is a catalyst, and CLEARING is the match that sparks the flame. Genre: Electronic / Alternative-Pop.
