After the success of Frigid Stars, the trio Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle and Chris Brokaw booked Harold Dessau Recording studio in June 1992 to record a second eight-track album. A few days and some inexplicable high frequencies later, the record was abandoned, shelved and forgotten. Brokaw left the band shortly after, and these songs were re-recorded in various forms for Codeine’s final album. For its 30th anniversary, Numero has unearthed these recordings and restored the original White Birch according to the band’s specifications, with producer Mike McMackin. A slowcore masterpiece hiding in plain sight.
